Which interconnection requests are moving up, down and out.
Why this exists
The "interconnection queue" is simply a list of generation projects requesting a connection to the grid. Load requests are published separately, sporadically, and by far fewer transmission providers — where they are published, they are collected in the Large Load Registry. Queue tracking is nonetheless important because there are a finite number of bays to which a load or a generation project can connect, and a finite amount of engineering resources studying the impact of such connections.
Snapshots of these queues can be found elsewhere on the web and answer the question "what is filed today?" This tool is unique because it tracks changes in the queue, and answers the question "is this project moving, or has it stalled?"
Queue Wire thus compares each published snapshot against the last one and records only the differences — requests that advanced a status, requests that went to withdrawn or cancelled, and requests whose filed capacity was restated. That record does not exist in the published data. It only exists if somebody stores the old snapshot and diffs it.
What a change does not tell you. A request entering or leaving the queue does not mean power or a bay position are obtainable at that location. Deliverability depends on thermal and voltage limits, upgrade obligations and the rest of the study cluster — none of which the queue data reports. Use the data as a signal for where utilities (and generation projects) are focusing their engineering resources.
Coverage
Three regions today. Each is tracked separately because the schemas are not comparable — PJM publishes discrete statuses, ERCOT publishes composite milestone strings, and BPA publishes its own vocabulary in a daily workbook.
BPA is not an RTO. It is a federal power marketing administration, and its queue covers the Federal Columbia River Transmission System only — a Washington or Oregon project interconnecting to a utility’s own system (Puget Sound Energy, PacifiCorp, Avista) will not appear here. Only generation requests feed this page; BPA’s large-load requests are collected in the Large Load Registry.
